This Privacy Policy explains how [LEGAL_ENTITY] ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Jargonaut mobile application ("the App"). By using the App you agree to this policy.
Summary
Jargonaut is built to be private and offline-first. Most of your learning data lives on your device. We collect the minimum needed to run your account, improve the App, fix crashes, and process purchases. We do not sell your personal data.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and basic authentication details through our sign-in providers (including Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In). Authentication and account sync are handled by Supabase.
Learning and progress data. Your missions completed, streaks, Signal (XP), ranks, and charted terms are stored locally on your device and may be synced to your account so your progress is available across devices.
Usage and analytics data. We use PostHog to understand how the App is used (for example, missions started and completed, debrief scores, and feature usage) so we can improve it. This data is tied to a pseudonymous identifier, not your name.
Crash and diagnostic data. We use Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix crashes. This may include device model, operating system version, and technical crash logs.
Purchase data. Subscriptions and in-app purchases (Jargonaut Pro and coins) are processed by Apple and Google and managed through RevenueCat. We receive purchase and entitlement status. We never receive or store your full payment card details.
Notifications. If you opt in, we send push notifications (such as streak and weekly crossword reminders). You can disable these in your device settings at any time.
How we use your information
- To provide and sync your account and progress
- To operate core features (missions, streaks, ranks, crossword, coins)
- To improve the App through aggregate analytics
- To diagnose and fix crashes and bugs
- To process and restore purchases and subscriptions
- To send notifications you have opted into
Legal bases (where applicable, e.g. GDPR)
We process data to perform our contract with you (providing the App), based on your consent (analytics and notifications, where required), and for our legitimate interests in improving and securing the App.
Third-party processors
We share data only with service providers that help us run the App:
- Supabase — authentication and data sync
- PostHog — product analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — crash reporting
- RevenueCat — purchase and subscription management
- Apple / Google — app distribution and payment processing
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
Data retention
We retain account and progress data while your account is active. Analytics and crash data are retained for a limited period as needed to improve the App. You can delete your account at any time (see below), after which we delete or anonymize associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.
Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
- Delete your account in the App's settings (Control Panel), or by contacting us.
- Disable analytics or notifications via in-app settings and device settings.
- To exercise any right, contact us at [CONTACT_EMAIL].
Children
Jargonaut is intended for a professional and adult audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide notice in the App.
